We built DinkTap to bring players and clubs together — not to monetize your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. Plain language, no dark patterns.
Introduction
DinkTap, LLC (“DinkTap,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the DinkTap mobile applications, the Captain & Management Portal, and the websites linking to this policy (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Services.
By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. Specific features may be governed by additional notices — those will be linked when relevant.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you give us directly, that we generate from your use of the Services, and that we receive from third parties you authorize.
Information you provide
- Account details — your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and an optional profile photo.
- Player profile — your skill level, preferred play formats, location for nearby matchmaking, and notes you choose to share with other players.
- Match activity — scores, partners, opponents, court used, and any tags or notes you attach to a match.
- Club & organizer data — if you operate a club, the rosters, schedules, events, and announcements you create.
- Payments — if you pay for premium features or event registration, our payment processor receives card information; we receive only a transaction record.
- Communications — messages you send to other players, captains, or our support team.
Information generated automatically
- Device & usage data — device model, operating system, app version, IP address, language, and timestamps of app activity.
- Performance & diagnostics — crash logs, error reports, and aggregated performance metrics used to keep the Services reliable.
- Location — approximate or precise location when you enable it, used solely to surface nearby players and events. You can turn this off at any time in your device settings.
Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a verified email and basic profile information from that provider.
- Club imports — if a club you join uploads its roster, we receive your name and contact details from the club’s authorized administrators.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and operate the Services — including matchmaking, scoring, leaderboards, leagues, tournaments, and court booking.
- Maintain your DinkTap account and the DMR™ Dynamic Mesh Rating that reflects your play.
- Connect you with nearby players, clubs, and events you might be interested in.
- Communicate with you about service updates, event reminders, and the occasional product announcement.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.
- Improve and develop new features, with aggregated and anonymized analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not use your match data, location, or messages to build advertising profiles, and we do not allow third-party advertising trackers inside the DinkTap apps.
Sharing & Disclosure
We share information only in the limited circumstances below. We never sell personal information.
- With other players — when you join a club, register for an event, or invite players to a match, the relevant participants see your public profile (name, photo, DMR™, and match history you choose to share).
- With clubs & organizers — if you join a club or register for a tournament, that club’s authorized staff sees your registration data, scores, and standings — but never your private messages with other players.
- With service providers — we use vendors for hosting, analytics, customer support, email delivery, and payments. They process data only under our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.
- For legal reasons — we may disclose information if required by law, in response to a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
- In a corporate transaction — if DinkTap is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Your Rights & Choices
You have meaningful control over your DinkTap data. Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you additional rights — we honor all of the following globally:
- Access & export. Download a copy of your account data, match history, and activity in machine-readable format at any time.
- Correction. Update inaccurate or out-of-date information directly from your profile.
- Deletion. Request deletion of your account and personal data. Some records (e.g. payment transactions) may be retained as required by law.
- Opt-out of communications. Unsubscribe from product or event emails at any time. Critical service notices (security alerts, terms changes) will still be sent.
- Location & notifications. Toggle location permission and push notifications from your device settings — no DinkTap setting required.
Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the Services and meet our legal obligations.
- Active account data is retained while your account is open.
- Deleted accounts: personal data is removed within 30 days; backup systems within 90 days.
- Aggregated, de-identified statistics may be retained indefinitely for product analytics — these cannot be re-associated with you.
- Financial transaction records are retained for the period required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. These include encrypted connections (TLS 1.2+), encryption at rest, role-based access controls for our staff, regular vulnerability testing, and continuous monitoring.
No system is ever 100% secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and applicable regulators within the timeframes required by law.
Children
DinkTap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents who believe their child has provided information to us should contact us at privacy@dinktap.com.
Users between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction may use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
International Transfers
DinkTap is operated from the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards for transfers from regions that require them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
